Hi, Mr. Tonner. You say a lot of things here that I’m not sure… well. I think you ‘do’ have a few points here, but most of your reactions are visceral and pretty hostile against increased diversity for African-Americans in the United States, whose numbers are large in the country yet small in the media.
Ftr, I don’t think Marvel and DC are doing diversity very well, so I do agree with you in that aspect, but for different reasons. I also think there’s tons of misogyny and racism, though some of the examples you raise don’t fit in my opinion. I think because Muslims in America and the world are still so discriminated against, it’s great that they straight off the bat destroyed the most common stereotypes about Muslims in the first issue.
You do have a point about DC and Marvel mainly pushing black people as diversity though. Black and white isn’t diverse at all, and it’s a shame that so many people are willing to ignore that. However, it’s not black people who are benefiting at the expense of other POC (even with the recent pushes, they’re still underrepresented as hell, and most black characters aren’t even very prominent right now)- it’s white people who are.
